College can be a major adjustment in one’s life. It is usually the first time when students live away from home and outside of their parent’s or guardian’s rules. College has been a significant change for me because not only do I attend class full-time and work, but I am also a collegiate athlete. Many wonder how I am a successful student in the classroom and how I manage to be a successful college athlete too. Classes can be difficult and the work load is time-consuming; on top of all my classes, I practice every day and have vigorous lifting working.
The first secret behind being a successful student and collegiate athlete is establishing my priorities. My schoolwork and grades take precedence over everything else. My dedication to my schoolwork allows me to have the opportunity to run track. Once I have determined I have successful grades, my next priority is putting the rest of my energy into track. I dedicate myself to the sport I love. I work hard to challenge myself mentally and physically to be the best student and athlete I can be. I have goals to work toward since I know exactly what I want.
